Human Resources Manager

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team!

Reporting to the President, the Human Resources Manager's primary role is to provide support to the management team in the administration and day-to-day human resources related operations (ie. recruitment, training, capacity building, performance management, policy development, regulatory compliance, etc.).

Other duties include:

  • Consults with partners/managers to promote Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide a high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, goal attainment and ongoing development;

  • Contributes to collective strategic planning, decision making, information sharing, problem solving and coordination of action, evaluation of results, crisis management and employee relations;

  • Coaches managers and staff on organizational policy and matters relating to career development, staffing initiatives, workplace ethics, team building, capacity building and performance management;

  • Reviews and revises HR policy in compliance with changing or new legislation; develops and documents new HR procedures;

  • Maintains all employee files in accordance with privacy legislation, including contractual documentation regarding terminations and employment offers;

  • Manages full cycle recruiting and new employee orientation;

  • Manages performance evaluation, progressive discipline and termination;

  • Analyzes and recommends compensation and benefit packages to ensure competitive programs and compliance with legal requirements;

  • Represents the employer on the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee; leads JOH&S processes (strategic planning, risk assessment, policy and procedure developments, ), oversees First Aid attendants and develops and / or maintains and organizational health and wellness strategy;

  • Provides advice to partners / managers on HR issues such as employee relations, training needs, conflict of interest, human rights and organizational change.

    Requirements of the successful incumbent include:

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in HR

  • Knowledge of BC Employment Standards, employment law, Worksafe BC regulations and HR practices

  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation preferred

Must also hold an unrestricted Class 5 driver's license with the use of a fully operational vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed).
